Songbird’s Lament
Little bird…dear little bird,
How you struggle for your song…almost silent…
Only heard in your heart.
Once bursting with the energy stream of life…
Thwarted and buffeted… morphing into softened whispers.
Eyes that once glistened with anticipation of becoming,
Now eyes glazed with the frost of never…
Drowning in anguish.
Little bird…dear little bird,
Once a heart overflowing with lyrical fluted song…
Now engulfed and washed with the high tide of rending pain.
Oh, beautiful little bird…you must listen carefully…
Your wings are battered, your song un-carried on the winds.
But your song is indelibly yours! Exult…you must sing!
Flutter your wings and take your stand…
Let your song be heard! You are free at last!
